Fleur van Dodewaard is less interested in the photographic representation of reality as such than in the way in which photography relates to the other media it exploits in its efforts to achieve autonomy. Fleur van Dodewaard’s playful work is about exactly this kind of "negative" visibility and although the pictures are themselves quite restrained, with their limited palette and staging, the effect in sum is unexpectedly critical.
