Animal Photography by Christopher Pethick

Christopher Pethick was born in Plymouth, England in 1984, and spent his early years there before moving to the Dartmoor village of Mary Tavy in 1991. On leaving school in 2000 he studied 3D Design at Plymouth College of Art and Design, and in the meantime continued to follow other interests, which included painting, graphic design and photography. He gained a few notable commissions at this time, including one from the psychic spoon bender, Uri Geller, which was a 2m x 3m oil on canvas painting of Geller’s late friend and music legend Michael Jackson standing on a plinth in a surreal landscape.
Whilst an undergraduate at Salisbury College, Wiltshire, where he earned a BA (Hons) Degree in PhotoMedia, Chris won the Grand Prize in Panasonic’s Photographer of the Year 06, and the PIEA PMA Grand First Prize for the Colleges and Universities category 07 where he was the only European entry out of 6,000 entries. More recently, he was awarded the title of, Illustrative and Pictorial Photographer of the Year at the 2008 British Professional Photography awards in Newcastle.

Animal Photography by Tiago Xavier

Born in Oporto in 1985, currently residing and working in Lisbon, Tiago Xavier showed an early passion for art and creativity, and drawing was his vehicle of expression. Expressing on a piece of paper his environment has been a strong tool to reach the point where he is at the moment. His education is based on Graphic Design, but his real passion is photography.
Tiago Xavier’s photography is characterized by irreverence, experimentalism and a very unique view of the world, which explains why he can always capture something interesting, whether the target of his lens is a beautiful model or the anus of a panda.

Animal Stars by Alexander von Reiswitz

Spanish born photographer and architect, Alexander von Reiswitz, lives in Berlin and has many bodies of wonderful work. Following Zoogestalten and Animal Stars, Alexander von Reiswitz has most recently led spirited racehorses before the camera in his new series Alte Meister. The animals are breeding studs with excellent pedigrees, which have won many prizes.
is unique relationship with the natural world is revealed in Zoogeltalten, with images taken at the Berlin Zoo, and Animal Stars where images were taken in animal training schools across Germany. To capture the personality of an animal in photography, a quick, skilled eye is just as important as patience and careful action. A fine sense for detail, light, and color also come in to play. In this case, the colored material bestows the stallions with especial luster and proximity.
